Significantly improved motor system reliability, reduced mechanical stress during starting and stopping, and ensured dependable operation of critical mining infrastructure
A 900kW 6.6kV High-Voltage Motor Starter is a specialised electrical control system used to safely start, control and protect large industrial motors operating in demanding mining environments. Traditional motor starting methods can place significant mechanical and electrical stress on motors, couplings and driven equipment. Modern high-voltage motor starter technology provides controlled acceleration and deceleration, reducing these stresses while improving operational reliability. Advanced motor starters incorporate intelligent protection features including thermal overload protection, phase-loss detection, overcurrent monitoring and fault diagnostics, ensuring critical equipment remains protected under all operating conditions. For pump applications, controlled starting also helps minimise hydraulic pressure surges (water hammer), reducing stress on pipelines and extending the life of the overall pumping system. The upgrade enhances operational efficiency, improves equipment lifespan and supports long-term asset management strategies within critical mining operations.
